“We deem it opportune to remind our children of their
duty to take an active part in public life and to contribute toward
the attainment of the common good of the entire human family as well
as to that of their own political community… Every believer in this
world of ours must be a spark of light, a center of love, a
vivifying leaven amidst his fellow men. And he will
be this all the more perfectly, the more closely he lives in
communion with God in the intimacy of his own soul.”
Blessed
Pope John XXIII, Peace on Earth

Divine Word
Radio is a non-profit organization that acquires and broadcasts radio programs that
teach and explain Catholic truth. Both Catholics and
non-Catholics will hear these programs in the Gulf Coast
area, reaching both Catholics and non-Catholics with the fullness of truth. The Project works in communion with Church
hierarchy and under the obedience of the Bishop John Ricard, but does not speak for the
Church in any official capacity.

Divine Word Communications started as the Mobile Project,
founded in early 2003, by Jim Thompson, Jr. of Fairhope (St.
Lawrence Parish) and Kenny Fann of Mobile (St. Ignatius Parish).
At the 2003 meeting of the Catholic Radio Conference, the two
met with Gene Church from Pensacola Beach (St. Ann
Parish).
Divine Word Communications is
enlisting like-minded and enthusiastic volunteers to facilitate
the Project’s growth and achieve its goals. Outside consultants
from the Catholic Radio Association have also been retained to
provide expertise and to guide us through its early phases.
MISSION STATEMENT
Believing in the value of radio as a medium of evangelization, Divine Word
Communications is dedicated to spreading the fullness of the Gospel of Our Lord,
Jesus Christ. We fulfill our mission by bringing the teachings of the Catholic
Church into each and every home along the Gulf Coast via the radio airwaves. In
so doing, we assist the Church in carrying out Christ’s command to "feed my
sheep."
-
As Catholics, it is our responsibility to
make the beauty and truth of the teachings of Christ’s Church accessible to
all.
-
It is vitally important for us as Catholics
to better understand our teachings, and for non-Catholics to learn the
richness and beauty of the Faith!
